Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with our client located in Savannah, GA to identify a Supervisor Storage Administrator for a permanent, direct hire opportunity. The Supervisor Storage Administrator will provide lead systems support on Backup Systems Administration Services Support, and work with the Storage Administration team in a virtualized storage environment. Serve as the primary technical interface working with all server support teams in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving server backup and restoration issues.


Essential Functions:



  • Provide operations support to ensure high performance backup and data protection, universal availability and the simplified management of complex systems and storage networks. .
  • Supports implements and maintains backup plans to ensure continuation of critical operations in the event of a disaster or recovery. .
  • The candidate will provide Enterprise Backup Systems Administration support as a team member within a large enterprise system supporting a 24x7 operations environment. Operating systems supported include Unix/AIX, Linux, Windows 2008/2012. .
  • Primary technical interface working in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving server backup and restoration issues. .
  • Operation, configuration, and troubleshooting of organization backup and data replication infrastructure. .
  • Ensure the gathering of information regarding needs and requirements for existing and proposed backup and storage systems and technical, structural and organizational data recovery specifications. 
  • Report information to support the analysis of backup, recovery, and storage technologies and systems. 
  • Operate and upkeep services for backup hardware and storage networks. 
  • Expert Technical knowledge required backup and recovery in TSM technologies is a must have. Data Domain is highly desirable. 
  • Knowledge of SAN, Ethernet/IP, storage virtualization,, system and database storage functions including EMC, IBM technologies and SAN Fabric. 
  • Knowledge of script development and maintenance. 
  • Background in Storage concepts: SCSI, NAS, SAS, Drive technologies.
  • General knowledge of Virtualization server OS and applications, daily system maintenance, applications integration, upgrades on Virtualization systems in a VMware and/or Linux/Unix virtualized environment.
  • Assist developing test backup automation frameworks in collaboration with rest of the WMWare, Wintel, Linux/ Unix team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field preferred. 6 years of experience providing Sr. Backup administration support and server configuration support required. to include experience managing professional level employees or medium to large, cross-functional teams or projects. At least one of the following industry certifications preferred.: MCSA/MCSE/MCTIP-SA or VMware VCP and similar certifications preferred.
  • Configuration experience of storage components, including but not limited to TSM, Netbackup, Veam, Storage Tools,  Avamar, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of data domain and virtualized storage highly desirable.
  • Experience with Virtualized monitoring and maintenance.
  • Proven backup systems administration expert skills in a mission critical support environment.
  • Understanding of enterprise storage technology to interface with the storage administration group.
  • Good knowledge of Virtualized environments.
  • Good understanding of network communications fundamentals, Virtual Storage Systems (EMC highly desired), backup/restores.
