Overview

Velocity Staff is working with our client in Kansas City to find a Business Analyst III to join their team on a 6+ month contract opportunity. 

 

Responsibilities

Description

Analyze and document business needs and requirements. Serve as a subject matter expert of business and application knowledge in the design, testing, and implementation of new applications and enhancements to existing applications. Support project scope definition and requirements in conjunction with business functional users and IT analysts to ensure alignment with IT strategy. Provide end user support of new technologies and enhancements.

• Provide day-to-day production system support to end users of multiple business units
• Investigate initial reports of production application outage or instability, address to appropriate technical team for resolution
• Maintain moderate application configuration in applications related to multiple business units; mentor other Business Analysts in additional duties
• Identify and recommend new processes to increase efficiency and improve functionality
• Create business function overview training and provide to IT analysts
• Consult with business/functional users and IT technical analysts to implement new systems or system modifications, including but not limited to:
o Define, translate and simplify business requirements
o Identify and document business rules and impacted processes or systems
o Create and document functional specifications
o Assist in developing test plans with multiple business units
o Create and coordinate testing execution and review results
o Develop implementation plans and project support documentation
o Support training end users of multiple business units

 

Qualifications

Mandatory:

• Expertise in standard concepts, best practices and company procedures related to multiple business functions
• Knowledge of the complexity and interdependency of technology applications used in multiple business functions
• Understand and recognize when business practices of interrelated systems can be improved through technology
• Excellent written and oral communication skill, problem solving and decision making
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office; Outlook, Word and Excel including basic formulas and editing to track and report project status and other data
• Establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with both end users and IT analysts
• Guide teams on small to medium projects completing on time and on budget
• Quickly adapt to multiple demands and rapidly changing priorities using sound planning and time management skills
• Exercise sound judgment when making decisions

Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years business analyst experience
OR
• 6 years of business analyst experience "
Ideal Candidate:

1. Experience with Regulatory Compliance, preferably in the electric industry. 
a. NERC 693 (Operations and Planning) experience a must
b. NERC CIP experience a plus
2. Experience translating regulatory requirements into policies, processes, and procedures.
3. Experience evaluating in place processes to determine compliance and suggest/implement efficiencies or improvements
4. Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating Internal Controls
5. Experience leading diverse stakeholders and large teams
6. Experience in compliance program development
7. Experience managing programs or projects
8. Experience working with Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets
9. Experience implementing tools that support compliance requirements
