Overview

Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with our client located in Savannah, Georgia to identify an IT Mobile Applications Solution Architect to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The IT Mobile Applications Solution Architect will be responsible for defining and implementing IT application solutions, within the constraints of existing enterprise architectural standards as well as assist in the development and deployment of systems, methodologies, standards and processes that support the application development and support functions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Create application architectures and design and configure complex enterprise applications based on the business requirements.
  • Document the desired future state of application architecture, and document the gaps between current and future states. Define transition plans to close the gaps.
  • Make IT solution recommendations that have an important impact on segments of the business.
  • Develop high-level view of current and proposed IT architectures.
  • Serve as technical expert in one or more applications within a portfolio.
  • Assure that solution designs meet requirements for scalability, performance and quality in accordance with negotiated service level agreements.
  • Under minimal direction, plans and conducts research in application technologies in support of business objectives.
  • Participate in the assessment and resolution of software defects discovered during the quality assurance process.
  • Work with software designers, QA engineers, technical writers, configuration management and infrastructure, as needed, to ensure quality and the successful implementation of new applications or features.
  • Assist project management with the development of work breakdown structures and project plans required. to implement applications.
  • Participate in design reviews for implementation projects.
  • Assist IT and Business groups in the evolution of technology and business road-maps.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and performs cost/benefit analysis.
  • Assist in the development of the disaster recovery strategy.
  • Understand IS Security measures and current standards, practices and technology. 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison with suppliers.
  • Assist with evaluations and recommendations regarding purchased software packages, and supporting services.
  • Support management in recruiting, hiring and career development
  • Using knowledge of technology and existing systems, mentors junior staff to design, build and maintain application systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.  Masters degree may be used to offset one year of experience; PhD may offset two years of experience.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as an IT professional with broad experience across multiple IT disciplines.
  • IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) exposure preferred.
  • Solid understanding of system lifecycle methodologies.
  • Proficiency with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills; must be capable of explaining complex procedures in writing or verbally. Must be able to write proposals and make presentations to internal customers and professional peers. Works closely with upper management.
  • Provides tech direction for app development teams. 

 

 

Unique Skills:

  • Experience working as a Mobile Architect preferred.
  • Should be able to evangelize Mobile architectures into product road-map.
  • Candidate should know about the mobile ecosystem, platform components and interrelationships - a. Application development platforms (native and hybrid) and associated APIs b. Mobile Middleware (custom vs MEAP) c. Mobile Device management d. User analytics etc.
  • Candidate should know in-depth Architecture of popular mobile platforms such as iOS and Android.
  • Candidate understands the key technology trends in industry and can architect solutions around the trends. Solid experience in collaborative application development using source control tools and strategies for using source control such as trunks, branches, merges, tagging, release management methods, etc.
  • Ability to work closely with customer teams (business and technology) to evolve technical direction and also to suggest technology alternatives.
  • Ability to write clear, well-organized code; architect and write reusable library code for the team of developers.
  • Architect, design, and develop systems for mobile applications.
  • Effective Communication skills to communicate with supervisor or project manager to determine timeline, budget and resource allocation required by the projects in-line with the overall strategy.
  • Participate in ideation/visualization sessions for original application ideas.
  • Self-driven, should be able to work with minimal direction.
