  • Overview

    Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with our client located in Kansas City, KS to identify for a 3 month contract to hire opportunity,Desktop Architect / Endpoint Engineer to join their team. The right candidate will be responsible for defining and managing the endpoint profile throughout the enterprise from design to deployment and steady state.  This role is the primary resource for endpoint hardware configuration, software deployment, and security/patch maintenance policy. 

    Responsibilities

    HARDWARE:

     

    • Evaluate and recommend endpoint computer equipment based on defined business need
    • Monitor and report on deployment activity and assist in pre-stocking and order estimation
    • Mange hardware inventory, equipment deployment / recovery, e-waste disposal, tagging and CMDB
    • Manage enterprise images for endpoints including desktop, laptop, tablet, Mac, Windows
    • Work with Support Services management to coordinate hardware lifecycle for enterprise
    • Manage vendor relationships for procurement and warranty service

     

    SOFTWARE:

    • Ensure a secure endpoint deployment through proactive security and feature patching
    • Prepare software for distribution through automated tooling, package creation, and testing
    • Complete software installations via automated tools in alignment with assignments and tickets 
    • Maintain an accurate account of all deployed software titles (team with licensing manager)
    • Develop, implement, and maintain browser strategy and configuration
    • Create and maintain Operating System images for all hardware in lifecycle
    • Collaborate with enterprise application owners to create and deploy updates and patches

    ADMINISTRATION:

    • Identify, source, test and deploy appropriate tooling for enterprise endpoint management
    • Assist with design and management of enterprise wide access profiles, both in-office and remote
    • Work with management in defining endpoint security management policy
    • Work with administrators and management to continually improve end user experience
    • Manage ticket load for Deployment Services team
    • Serve as escalation for break-fix deskside incidents
    • Thoroughly document all processes and procedures in company knowledge base
    • Oversee any servers, primary and/or distribution, used in execution of endpoint management duties

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience preferred
    • 8-10 years of information technology experience with a minimum of 5 years in a Senior desktop/deskside support role
    • 2 years of experience in endpoint design, software packaging and deployment, security and version patching
    • Strong desktop and process automation experience, batch, PowerShell, etc.
    • May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses in the future
    • Current industry certifications preferred: MCSA Windows 10, MCSA Office 365, MCSE – Productivity Solutions Expert, MCSE – Desktop Infrastructure, Apple – Certified Support Professional, Mac Integration

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of software update package development (i.e. MSI package builder)
    • Knowledge of software script development and usage (i.e. Visual Basic and Perl)
    • Strong skills in desktop troubleshooting and repair
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite
    • Apple troubleshooting, networking, configuration, integration with LDAP/AD
    • Skilled in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and technical evaluations
    • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Able to apply technology solutions to business problems
