  • Overview

    Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with our client in Savannah, GA to find a Senior Level Network Architect for a permanent position within their organization.  The right candidate will successfully lead the design and implementation of Enterprise solutions focused in the areas of network and data center technologies. He/she will be responsible for creating the governing principles around network architecture across the organization. This individual is also responsible for defining the network architectural standard processes and procedures.  Additional responsibilities and qualifications are outlined below:

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:



    • Coordinate with other Architects to provide technical leadership to drive data storage technology choices, strategy, and implementation decisions to achieve high reliability, performance, and adaptability of all technologies under the IT domains.

    • Serve on data governance boards and act as the main liaison between governance/user and technology interests within the organization, and facilitate and document the agreements on appropriate corporate data and its usage (master data management).

    • Wide experience in network engineering strategy, architecture, design, and implementation as applied to complex computing systems especially working with routing and switching technologies, load balancing including data center network design, firewalls, load balancers, etc.

    • Lead the strategy for network architecture and network services to support data, voice, video, telephony, and other network dependent technologies.

    • Experience architecting complex, secure networks for infrastructure modernization efforts and developing dynamic networks with infrastructure redundancy, and network link diversity to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.

    • Perform feasibility analysis, prototype or proof of concept development, requirements specification, network and/or platform design, and network optimization.

    • Identify and implement high availability architectures for infrastructure processes that are identified to have single points of failure.

    • Lead and develop the strategy and architecture for all access to conform to Software Defined Network and virtualization principles.

    • Facilitate new technology transfer and also identify opportunities to extend existing/emerging technologies and/or invent new technologies to meet anticipated network, business, and consumer needs Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Unique Skills:


    • CCIE Router/Switch required (passed the written exam is acceptable).

    • Network, data center, and wireless architecture and design engineering are primary/mandatory skills to include minimum of ten years in developing enterprise architectures.

    • Experience in voice architecture and design desired.

    • Managing teams of one to five indirect resources in a matrixed environment is desired.


    Additional Requirements:


    • Demonstrated business area process knowledge, self-starter, team player, and effective negotiator with advanced decision-making and diplomacy skills.

    • Demonstrates enterprise thinking and influence across functional boundaries, organizational levels, and with external partners.

    • Ability to teach and adapt Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks (such as Zachman, TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF/TEAF, GERAM).

    • Understanding of architectural principles including performance, scalability, security, availability and flexibility and how to design for them.

    • Architectural expertise in the following areas:

      •      Nexus 7K / 5K / 2k series data center switches.

      •      Catalyst series switches.

      •      Cisco routers.

      •      DR integration. 

      •      F5 and other load balancers.

      •      Experience with network security practices and devices (Cisco, Palo Alto, Checkpoint) a plus.

      •      Packet sniffer operation and packet dissection (Sniffer, Ethereal, tcpdump, libpcap).



    • Experience in integrating multiple vendor applications and legacy systems.


    Education / Experience Level:


    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field preferred.

    • Ten (10) years experience in developing enterprise and/or data architectures.

    • Managing teams of one to five indirect resources in a matrixed environment is preferred.


    NOTE:  The client requires a full credit history check from a national credit bureau as well as a criminal background and drug screening for this role.
