  • Overview

    Velocity Staff, Inc. is currently working with our client located in Kansas City, MO to identify an IT Project Manager to join their team on a 6+ month contract. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for executing project management processes and methodologies for the IT division, ensuring that project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, adhere to IT and company standards, and meet or exceed customer expectations.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead project teams in the implementation efforts for projects/programs lead by the PCO/PMO team, ensuring that they are accurate, secure and efficient.
    • Track key project milestones, adjusting project plans and/or resources as indicated.
    • Communicate project status to stakeholders on a regular basis.
    • Create project management documentation (project scope, project plans/schedules, project logs, status reports, issues management, etc).
    • Ensure that project implementation (designs, development, testing plans, change orders, etc.) is documented following proper methodology.
    • Direct and monitor work on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality review, and escalate functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately. Facilitate issue resolution.
    • Manage the contractual commitments, scopes of work, budgets, and time lines of multiple projects simultaneously.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related field and 6 years IT experience in multiple areas, including 2 years managing projects in multiple technologies and functions OR 8 years IT experience, including 4 years managing project in multiple technologies and functions.
    • Primary duties will consist of managing a PeopleSoft HR upgrade and consolidation project. The selected candidate should have recent working knowledge of the following: PeopleSoft version upgrades, including a combination on premise and cloud offerings, develop end-to-end HR business processes and consolidate multiple HRIS systems to one platform. 
    • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques.
    • Working knowledge of standard concepts, best practices and procedures related to business functions/units.
    • Knowledge of technology applications used in business functions/units.
    • Understand and consider the complexity and inter-relatedness of business functions and company technology applications.
    • Experience leading large project teams effectively, promoting and supporting team work.
    • Ability to take the initiative to search for and identify alternative and/or innovative solutions to both business and technical problems.
    • Use planning skills to manage and complete large, complex projects.
    • Quickly adapt to the demands inherent in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, including giving formal presentations to different audiences as well as the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.
    • Establish and maintain effective consulting relationships.
    • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
