  • Overview

    Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with our client in Lenexa, KS to identify a highly talented Desktop Architect to support on-going business critical projects and operational duties for a large scale, nationwide environment. The Desktop Architect will be responsible for defining and managing the endpoint profile throughout the enterprise from design to deployment and steady state as well as function as the primary resource for endpoint hardware configuration, software deployment, and security/patch maintenance policy as well as maintain the SCCM environment (servers included), OSD creation/maintenance, application packaging/deployment, Windows patching, hardware specs, etc.




      • OSD
        • Design, implement, and maintain gold image(s).
        • Ensure base image(s) is up-to-date on patching.
        • Provide automation into the base image(s) to handle multiple departments and builds.
        • Design, test, and deploy secure base images for enterprise use.
        • Update applications within the base image(s).
      • Applications
        • Work with business to validate resource allocation, compatibility, etc. of application requests.
        • Package, test, and deploy applications in various forms to various business units.
        • Work with business members and project managers offering consulting, helping build and meet deadlines, etc.
      • Patching
        • Maintain monthly patch procedure.
        • Ensure workstation compliance is satisfactory.
        • Drive testing, piloting, and implementation of monthly patching.
      • SCCM
        • Maintain system and client health at all times.
        • Maintain source repository.
        • Maintain device collection health and automation.
        • Upgrade SCCM servers and SCCM itself when deemed appropriate.
        • Develop and implement baseline configurations.
      • Hardware
        • Develop solutions for various hardware demands throughout the enterprise environment.
        • Work with vendors to ensure workstation specifications meet needs of the business.
        • Drive strategy for hardware refresh cycles.
      • Administration
        • Maintain logical OU structure within Active Directory.
        • Maintain and implement Group Policy Objects to manage devices and their policies.
        • Manage ticket load for Deployment Services team.
        • Serve as escalation point for break-fix deskside incidents.
        • Create technical documents of implementations, break-fix solutions, etc.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
    • 3-5 years of experience managing a medium to large enterprise environment.
    • Experience in large migrations of operating systems.
    • Experience in large migrations of Office products.
    • Experience in patching Windows systems.
    • Experience packaging/deploying applications and updates.
    • Extensive scripting experience in PowerShell and the PSADT
    • Certification and/or LicenseMay be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses in the future.
    • Current industry certifications preferred:
      • MCSA Windows 10
      • MCSA Office 365
      • MCSE – Productivity Solutions Expert
      • MCSE – Desktop Infrastructure
      • Apple – Certified Support Professional, Mac Integration

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong scripting abilities in PowerShell (PoSh, PSADT, etc.)
    • MST/Transforms file creation.
    • Experience with Adobe, Oracle, Microsoft, VPN, SAP and other client applications.
    • Knowledge of software update/upgrade package development.
    • Strong skill in desktop troubleshooting and repair.
    • Azure Experience.
    • Office 365 Click-to-Run ODT/implementation.
    • Apple troubleshooting, networking, configuration, integration with LDAP/AD.
    • Skilled in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations and technical evaluations.
    • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to apply technology solutions to business problems and work with accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamworkand ability to present ideas using language that is relatable to business and end-users.
    • Ability to consider impact of actions and decisions on employees, coworkers and customers.
    • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to multi-task and problem solve.
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team as well as promote a team environment.
    • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism.
