Velocity Staff, Inc. is working with a wonderful company in the Cloud Services space to find a talented Network Engineer to join the team on a full time / permanent basis (While we value all candidates - only candidates currenly located in the United States can be considered and unfortunatley, no sponsorship opportunities are available at this time).  This position offers remote work option as well to promote work/life balance and candidates located in the Kansas City metro area are preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties


As the Network Engineer you will be responsible for design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure networks. You must be an excellent communicator, interacting responsibly with technology teams, third-party service providers and management.


●  Provide technical expertise in design, implementation, and management of the network.

●  Coordinate deployments with project teams and colleagues

●  Propose, create, and detailed documentation of network designs in accordance with architecture standards

●  Research and evaluate the latest network technologies, tools, and capabilities to improve multiple cloud creations

●  Create infrastructure as code scripts and pipelines to deploy resources in the network

●  Provide troubleshooting subject matter expertise during incidents, and for projects and initiatives

●  Identify and drive areas for gaining operational efficiency

●  Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule responding to critical issues

●  Contribute to the ongoing development of the team by sharing knowledge, experience, and expertise with other team members

●  Automating repetitive task using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, BASH and Python Scripting

●  Configure switches, routers and next generation firewalls in complex IP networks: LAN, WAN, Wireless and VoIP+

●  Software Defined Network (SDN) or Network Virtualization Qualifications



●  This position offers a Remote working environment. Meaning you can live and work in the Kansas City Metro and work primarily remote. There could be times you will be requested to travel and/or visit the Lees Summit, MO office or client site. 

●  Excellent oral and written communications ability. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

●  Experience in designing, administering, deploying, and securing of multi-tenant/vendor network environment(s)

●  Experience with physical and or virtual firewalls, preferably FortiGate

●  Experience in installing, configuring, and administration of Linux based systems

●  Expertise in scripting and automation, with technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Python, etc.

●  Preferred ability and discipline to work and succeed in a fast-paced environment, to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology, and to lead and manage projects

●  Advanced troubleshooting skills

●  Experienced with SDN or Virtual Networking

●  Experienced with Cumulus Linux Preferred

●  May manage Cisco or Juniper routers or firewalls
